Want to see a new fabric collection?...

Today is my day on the Island Batik blog hop, and I'm really excited to share with you two things...

The new collection called Savannah designed by Tammy Silvers @tamarinis for Island batik and is available in all good craft shops now.

... and a my modern twist on the classic 'New York Beauty' block

Since the 1930's, the name "New York Beauty" has been associated with all quilts made with the same basic design of spiked quarter circles wedged in the corners of square or rectangular blocks. The New York Beauty quilt was known by several names in the nineteenth century: "Rocky Mountain Road", "Rocky Mountain", ”Rail Through The Mountains”, "Crown of Thorns", and "The Great Divide". In the 1930s, the “New York Beauty” title was adopted by Stearns and Foster Mountain Mist company for an old quilt pattern to be published as a new design.

Its created using paper piecing, this is a method which I haven't done for a while, but it returns very satisfying results

Once you have created a corner block, there are a huge variety of possibilities to make your quilt, be sure to head over to the Island Batik page to see all the beautiful quilts created by the Ambassadors

This collection is so vibrant, and packed full of beautiful designs and colours

I used Hobbs batting - Poly-Down premium polyester and Auriful threads to complete this challenge

My dog refused to get out the photo, so I had to go with it because when he doesn't want to move, there is no moving him

Be sure to enter this weeks giveaway, to be in with a chance of winning some of these beautiful fabric
