Crossroads With Blue Carolina…

This month I was fortunate enough to team up up with girls from Quilt101, I had the choice of choosing one of their lovely quilt packages… I knew straight away which of the fabrics i was going to choose ‘Blue Carolina’…

With the kits they offer, you get to choose the pattern, the fabrics, the backing and the binding, and wait for it, the best part… they cut it for you!!

Yep, all the strips, the backing and the binding all arrive pre-cut! I really enjoyed how quickly this came together, and without the hassle of cutting large pieces of fabric – fab idea!!

For this particular pattern, it was just a case of sewing all the strips together, cutting them into squares and arranging them…

The wadding I used, was the very lovely Vilene wadding 280 along with Gutermann thread , colour

The backing I chose ‘Carolina White Lace’ and the binding was ‘Carolina Blue Tile’
I did a simple zig-zag stitch to quilt it, I don’t usually do this stitch on my machine, so it was a refreshing change

I would thoroughly recommend these kits to anyone new to quilting, someone looking to get into the hobby, or for anyone like me, who dislikes cutting large pieces of fabric, they even have video tutorials for each one of their patterns
Many thanks to Wendy and Emily for this collaboration, if you love the idea of making one of these quilts, or have a friend that would love this as a gift, to get them into quilting, head over to quilt101, and build your quilt kit today.
